ITINERARY AT A GLANCE

Day 1 Cusco – Apurimac Canyon- Homestay
Day 2 Homestay – Puente Inca – Cusco

Day 01: Cusco – Apurimac Canyon- Homestay

Q’eswachaka Bridge Peru, Experiential tourism Cusco, Sustainable travel Andes, Andean homestay experience, Inca suspension bridge tour, Responsible tourism Peru

In the morning, our guide will pick you up in Cusco, marking the beginning of our Andean adventure in private transportation. Our destination is the Four Lakes circuit in the province of Acomayo, a water jewel of the Pomacanchi district.
Our first stop will be Laguna Pomacanchi, the largest of the four, a mirror of water framed by natural grasslands and totoras. Here, sustainability is felt in the pure air: we will observe local wildlife (trout, ducks, and flamingos), and enjoy a wonderful landscape with the tranquility of the Andes.
We will continue to Laguna Acopía, a sanctuary for birds such as wild ducks. We will make a quick stop at Laguna Asnaqocha, notable for its abundance of algae, before arriving at Pampamarca (or Tungasuca) ($3750 { masl), the highest one. With its fresh waters, this lagoon is ideal for traditional fishing and for observing Andean flora and fauna. We will have our lunch in a wonderful setting before continuing our journey.

The Heart of Sustainable Tourism. After this incredible day of lake exploration, the trip takes us to the imposing Apurimac Canyon, the natural border where history and tradition come together. We will spend the night in a traditional Peruvian house within the community, a pillar of our experiential tourism model. Don Alejandro, a respected member of the local community, will welcome us with open arms.

Day 2: Homestay – Inca Bridge – Cusco

Q’eswachaka Bridge Peru, , Inca suspension bridge tour, Responsible tourism Peru

After breakfast with our host family, enjoying a wonderful view of the canyon, we began the morning taking photos with the hosts and their colorful clothing to remember this beautiful connection. Then, we headed to the Apurímac River where the Q’eswachaka bridge, the oldest in the world, awaits us.
After a 15-minute ride in our transport, we arrived at the famous Inca suspension bridge of Q’eswachaka, an architectural and archaeological feat built by the Incas hundreds of years ago to connect the towns of Cusco and Apurímac. This is the bridge woven each year with fiber called ichu by the four local communities: Huinchiri, Chaupibanda, Ccollana Quehue, and Choccayhua.
If you fear heights or water, you might hesitate to cross the suspension bridge. Once you gather your courage, walk slowly to the other side as the bridge sways from side to side and hold on with all your strength. Wow! You have finally completed the visit to the Inca bridge and crossed the Q’eswachaka suspension bridge in Peru, quite an achievement!

Now it is time to relax and enjoy a delicious typical lunch with our hosts in the community near the Inca bridge, knowing that your trip is completely sustainable and enriches the life of the host family who welcomed you into their home. We say goodbye with much gratitude and hugs, as well as some last-minute photos for remembrance. We will arrive in Cusco at night at the selected hotel for your rest.
