Our mamás (mothers from the local communities) will prepare for you the most wonderful dishes in their homes using fresh organic ingredients. You will also go to the finest restaurants in Cusco for unique gastronomic experiences.

Domingo Atao is Kallpa Travel’ founder and CEO, he was born in a small Andean community called Acomayo and moved to the imperial city of Cusco when he was a child. Being a Quechua native speaker and born in the countryside he had to overcome challenging difficulties to succeed and become the owner of Kallpa Travel. A responsible travel agency committed to support and help his own people, his brothers, family and friends.

Tourism is our way of bringing you closer to our local customs . Our desire is to show you the hidden wonders of Peru, while establishing a sustainable source of income for our local travel partners. For us “success” is when native cultures are positively taken care of, while you are able to enjoy a remarkable journey.

Kallpa Travel is not only a tourism agency. It’s the union of my Andean brothers and you an explorer coming to Peru to live and enjoy our cultural wealth.

Our guides have years of experience in tourism and are bilingual, speaking Spanish, English, and some of them, Quechua.

Simeon was born in Cusco, Peru. He began as a tourist guide in the early 2000s and has been working with great enthusiasm ever since. While actively working as a tourist guide, he is also a talented mountain climber and enjoys spending time with his family. He likes to read and stay up to date on local historical details.

Henry has fourteen years’ experience guiding in Cusco. He is motivated by the love he has for the mountains of Peru and the respect he pays to Pachamama (our mother earth). Greco has spent almost two decades working in the tourism industry. He enjoys guiding in his native region, especially along the mountains where he feels most at home. Our Travel Partners

These special travel partners don’t work for us, they work with us. They are in charge of leading our “experiential travel” journeys through the Peruvian Andes. They live in the places we visit, and it is their homes we are invited into to stay while travelling through these incredible places, warmly inviting us into their culture, for an authentic travel experience.

Agustin Sullka Puma

Agustin lives in the remote community of Chaullacocha, located approximately five hours from Cusco in the high mountains. He hosts people from all around the world and warmly welcomes you to his cozy homestay.  You will have the time to witness the close connection he has to his animals.

Daniel Huyta

Daniel lives in the Ausangate region. He has been working in tourism since 2012, but his knowledge in agriculture started much earlier. The strong connection he has with the land allows him to grow food for his family. During your visit to his village he will teach you how he works the fields.

Honorata Qqelcca

Honorata is from the Ausangate region, and she works with alpacas and sheeps. Five years ago she opened her home to host visitors from Kallpa Travel, this provides an extra income for her to take care of her children. She is a great cook and you will be delighted with the tasty food she will prepare for you.

Tomas Sullka Huaman

Tomas is from the Chaullacocha community, located five hours from Cusco. He works shearing alpacas and sheep. His wife then prepares the fiber to weave and make into scarves, hats, sweaters, gloves and other items. He is passionate about what he does and loves showing visitors how to do it.

Roger Qqelcca

Roger’s smile characterizes him. He is always kind and is happy to show you the beauty of his lands. He has worked the fields since he was a child, learning alongside his father. Nowadays he is teaching his kids to grow potatoes, the main crop at this altitude. He is great at sharing his knowledge with you!

Plenario Qqulcca

Plenario’s homeland is the Ausangate region, where he has lived since he was born. Plenario has been working in tourism since 2015, introducing visitors to his lifestyle, language, traditions, roots and everyday life. He’s an expert in agriculture as well as raising livestock, his main source of income.

Juan Yupanqui

Juan, best known as Juancito or “the man of a thousand alpacas”, is from the Patacancha community, located four hours from Cusco. He will welcome you with open arms into his village and home, where he has comfortable rooms for you to spend the night. He likes to share his vast knowledge of his surrounding area with his guests.

Livia Gonzalo

Livia was born in the Ausangate community, where she happily lives. She loves having guests in her village and exchanging culinary knowledge as she is a great cook. She also has a great interest in agriculture. If you want to see the immense variety of potatoes in the area (at least a thousand different types), she’s the one to visit!

Demisia Sullka

Demisia is Agustin’s wife, and she also lives in Chaullacocha. She is responsible for keeping everything clean and organized for you during your homestay with them. She is also a master chef and prepares local and exquisite dishes with organic ingredients harvested from her fields. You will learn plenty of new recipes with her.
