Day 1: Starting in Llama Q’asa to Chaullacocha.
Your Lares Llama Trek to Machu Picchu begins with a private transfer from Cusco. The highlight of this journey is your expert tour guide—a native of the Andes who speaks fluent English and Quechua. His deep, personal understanding of our culture and traditions will provide you with an unparalleled insight into the Andean soul.
After reaching Llama Q’asa, the official start of the Lares Llama Trek to Machu Picchu, you will join our local llameros and their pack animals. We hike for three hours to the community of Chaullacocha for an authentic homestay. This day of the Lares Llama Trek to Machu Picchu includes a farm-to-table lunch and a unique opportunity to connect with local families through your guide’s translation. Experience the true essence of the mountains before resting in a cozy, high-altitude room.
Day 2: Chaullacocha to Patacancha
We will begin our day to the song of native birds and a homemade breakfast, thoughtfully prepared by our host family in the Lares Valley. After a heartfelt farewell, we will continue our Lares Llama Trek adventure, embarking on a five-hour hike toward the community of Patacancha. The trail will offer spectacular views of snow-capped peaks and crystal-clear lakes as we move at the ancestral pace of our llamas and alpacas.
Upon arrival, our local host family will welcome us with a comforting infusion of wild herbs gathered from the surrounding hills. In the afternoon, we will immerse ourselves in their traditions by participating in a weaving workshop, where master artisans will share their ancestral knowledge and the sacred meanings behind their designs. To conclude this day of cultural exchange, we will enjoy an organic dinner made with ingredients from their own fields before retreating to our cozy rooms for a restful night’s sleep in the heart of the mountains.
Day 3: From Patacancha to Ollantaytambo
After a final breakfast with our heartwarming host family, we begin an uphill hike offering breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks. Along the way, we will follow a unique Inca canal, a masterpiece of ancient engineering. We then descend to Inka Tampu, where our private transport awaits to take us to the historic town of Ollantaytambo for lunch then walk to our hotel in this place to rest
Day 4: Inca Trail
Our adventure begins early. We will pick you up from your hotel to transfer you to the train station. At 07:00 AM, we will board the train heading to Kilometer 104, the exact point where our trekking journey begins along the ancestral path toward Machu Picchu.
From this point, we will begin an ascent through trails surrounded by tropical vegetation and fascinating archaeological sites such as Chachabamba and Wiñay Wayna. The most exciting moment of the day will be the arrival at Inti Punku, or the Sun Gate. From this sacred place, you will be able to enjoy your first panoramic view of Machu Picchu at sunset, an exclusive perspective for those who hike the Inca Trail. Afterward, we will descend to the town of Aguas Calientes by bus to rest at the selected hotel.
Day 05: The Magic of Machu Picchu and the Return to Cusco
This day is dedicated to exploring the wonder of the world in depth. We will ascend again by bus to the citadel to go on a guided tour through the available circuit. Our expert guide will share with you the history, mysteries, and spiritual importance of this Inca sanctuary.
At the end of the tour, you will descend to the town of Aguas Calientes. You will have the afternoon free to enjoy lunch on your own and explore the local markets. Finally, we will board the return train to Ollantaytambo, where our group transport will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in the city of Cusco.
